Free List Of Negative Calorie Foods

You will find a free list of “negative” calorie foods below, but first let's consider what this means.

There is no such thing as a “negative” calorie - a calorie is a unit of heat and it cannot be negative.

However, when people talk about “negative” calorie foods, they're referring to foods whose calorie level is low enough that it takes more energy to eat and digest it than the food contains.

For example, if you consider water to be a food, then cold water is certainly a negative calorie food. It contains no calories at all and the body has to expend energy to bring it up to blood temperature. So every time we drink a glass of cold water we burn up a couple of calories. But there are very few foods like this.

Most foods that are on the list do not really use more calories than they add, or if they do the effect is negligible. Celery for example, does not give us enough calories to cover. So that is why people call it a negative calorie food.

Negative calorie foods are most attractive to anorexics. A negative calorie diet would obviously result in starvation in the long term and nutritional deficiencies can occur over time.  Once the body has lost excess fat, the calories burnt then come from muscle mass.  With this, the result is debility and wasting.

A more healthy way to use a negative calorie diet is as a form of fasting or detox.

It is something you can do for one to three days right after the Christmas season or another time when you have been eating an over-rich diet. Provided you are otherwise healthy it can be a great way to clean out the system. However it is still best to take medical advice before attempting this.

If you decide to use a negative calorie detox, keep the following points in mind:

1. It is never a good idea to eat huge quantities of one type of food, especially fruits. A lot of foods contain substances that can be damaging if consumed to excess. For example, the acid in grapefruit and pineapple can damage your stomach lining. Other foods put an excessive burden on the liver or may cause diarrhea. So try to use all the different foods in small quantities.

2. Do not spend all day just eating to be eating. You will become bloated and ‘heavy’.  You’d probably make yourself feel sick. If you are only doing this for a couple days, you should not feel too hungry. Plan four or five salad meals each day, and let your digestion rest at other times.

3. You will feel more satisfied if you eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly. You will also use more calories that way. So if the foods can be eaten raw, that will be more effective than cooking them. Foods like carrots and beets will also be more satisfying if you eat them grated.

4. Schedule time when you do not have any important commitments. As with fasting or any kind of detox, you may suffer some uncomfortable symptoms including headaches, tiredness, depression and irritability. If these become severe, stop the diet and see a doctor; otherwise, tough it out.

5. When you end the detox, plan a gradual return to normal eating.

If all the above points are checked and passed, let's move on to the list of foods.

The Meal Plan Mind Set

When it comes to losing weight, far too many people set themselves up for failure before they even begin the process. They literally dread going on their meal plan and before they start the process, they are planning their mishaps along the way. Sad to say but true, far too many people are planning their first rocky road mishap while eating their last bowl of Rocky Road ... thinking; : “I can’t have any more to this” – as if it’s a punishment.

I have no idea why people tend to do this to themselves but it is something I see far too often.   If you are honest with yourself, you will realize that moderation is the key.  It’s a simple concept that many people loathe and refuse to embrace.

You must change your way of thinking about food and your personal enjoyment of food in order for any meal plan you embrace to be successful. Food isn't the enemy. And that is something that not enough people really understand. Even the 'tasty' foods aren't the enemy. The enemy is your personal inability to properly portion the foods you eat. The problem is that the vast majority of us eat the wrong foods far more often than we eat the right foods. This is where the problems lie.

Our bodies need the nutrients we are lacking by not eating the five servings of vegetables and three servings of fruit each day that we should consume. Our bodies know that something is missing and we feel hungry or deprived. If we were actually consuming the proper balance of fruits and veggies each day we would find that we were far less likely to feel hungry and desire those foods that aren't as healthy. This means we would be much more likely to enjoy them in moderation as they should be enjoyed.

Portion control is another problem that we have. We live in a society of "up selling". Super-sized fries and empty calories by the gallon of your favorite cola are offered with almost every fast food meal that can be bought. You must learn to say no to these things and avoid situations in which you may feel tempted to partake in these ‘up sized’ orders.

To be truly successful when meal planning you need to embrace the process of building a healthier you, rather than depriving yourself of s ‘happy you’.

Do not think of your weight loss plan as something negative but rather a positive force in your life to make changes for the better. When you have negative thoughts, do not direct them at your meal plan. When you feel deprived, remind yourself that you are depriving your bones of carrying around that excess weight.

Remind yourself that you are depriving your wardrobe of those bulky clothes that are designed to hide the bulges.
Remind yourself that you are depriving your body of years of bulges and bringing back the body of your youth.

Do not get so caught up in the meal planning process that you forget to enjoy some of the goodies that life has to offer. Watching your weight and counting your calories does not mean that you can never go over your allotment. The goal however is to find balance. If you learn to portion your food correctly, indulge in moderation, and incorporate enjoyable high calorie burning activities into your daily routine you may be amazed at the results.

Planning for weight loss and health is only depriving if you allow it to be. If you cannot control yourself when it comes to indulging then by all means … avoid indulging. (Can you say: “recovering alcoholic?”) However, if you can learn to incorporate those small treats into your routine in moderation and burn those extra calories as well, then you should find yourself a much happier and more successful
than you have ever managed to be in the past.

15 Great Ways to Lose Weight Fast

Want to lose weight fast? It's easy to say good bye to 10 pounds of unwanted fat with these easy diet tips. Just pay attention to what you eat and be sure to have good tasting, fresh and healthy foods (including snacks), fill up on vegetables and keep your taste buds happy with fruit.

Follow these simple guidelines to lose your first 10 pounds, last 10 pounds or give your weight loss program a boost when it seems to have stuttered to a halt. This is a balanced and flexible plan that you can use for as long as you want.

1. Keep a note of everything that you eat and drink.
Record the item, the calories, and the number of portions you ate.  You will find that being more aware of what you are eating helps you to plan healthy meals and snacks.  No more "guesstimating".  Now, you will know.

2. Halve your intake of all pure or added fats.
This means using half as much butter or spread on your bread, toast, muffins and potatoes; half the usual amount of mayonnaise or sauce on your salad; and half the oil in the frypan every time.

3. Limit treats containing sugar to three times per week.

This includes chocolate, ice cream, desserts, cake, pastries, cookies, etc.  Pay attention to your portion size.  You will discover that a portion according to you may differ from the nutrition facts of the package.

4. Include a lower fat source of protein at most meals: fish, beans, cottage cheese, or low fat yogurt. Have eggs, or nuts instead.  Be mindful of the cholesterol of animal protein while investigating fat content.

5. Plan at least one lunch and dinner every week without meat or cheese.
Build those meals around whole grains, vegetables and beans to increase fiber and reduce fat.

6. Reduce the fat content in your milk products.
If you are currently drinking whole milk, reduce to 2% fat. From 2% reduce to 1%. Maybe you can go totally off dairy, all together by switching to Soy, Rice, or Almond milk.  Remember, Cows milk is for calf's just as cat milk is for kittens. Choose lower fat cheese and yogurt. When you buy yogurt, also check that it does not contain sugar.

7. Have at least three servings of fruit every day.
This can be for dessert or snacks. Choose fruit that is in season.  If it's out of season; there's no telling how it was kept "fresh".

8. Drink water instead of sodas, juices, milky drinks or alcohol.
Avoid diet soda - the sweet taste only encourages you to crave sugar. Room temperature water with a slice of lemon can be very refreshing in the morning.

9. Include at least two servings of vegetables at lunch and dinner.
If you are getting hungry, have more.  Hunger is simply your body asking for nutrients; not to be stuffed full.  You know ... like 15 minutes after eating Chinese food - your hungry again.  It's because there wasn't any nutrients in it.

10. Eat slowly.
The body is slow to register when you are full and it is easy to eat too much if you are racing through your meals.

11. Grated carrot makes a great snack.
You will find that a grated carrot is much more filling than a whole carrot; strange but true.

12. Use whole grains wherever possible.

The fiber will give you a fuller feeling and also help your digestion.  But I'm talking about 'real' whole grains.  So try something else beside 'rice and wheat'.  Try something different like: Farro, Spelt, Emmer , Einkorn, Kamut, Quinoa, or Amaranth.

13. Choose food that you can chew.
Again this will increase your fiber intake, and the act of chewing will make you feel more satisfied too. This means eating fruit instead of drinking juice. If you have soup, make sure it is chunky.

14. Plan your meals and snacks ahead of time.
Plan your shopping too - make a list of what you need and stick to it. If you just grab something when you are feeling hungry, you will probably choose high calorie food.

15. Try not to eat while watching TV.
That includes snacks as well as meals. Studies have proved that we eat larger portions in front of the TV, probably because we are much less aware of what we are eating. Don't eat on auto pilot.

A Few Easy Ways to Lower Your Calories for Losing Weight

If you are having a hard time slimming down, you need to take a look at your calorie consumption because; more than likely, you will need to cut them down. All diet plans work since there is a major reduction in the amount you eat. Obesity is caused whenever your calorie intake is much more than what your body needs to maintain your ideal body weight.
One of the most effective ways to reduce calories is stop drinking sodas, & cocktails.  Basically all high calorie drinks. A few of the new flavored coffee drinks have as much as 1200 calories in a single drink! Obviously, this is more than half the 2000 calories per day recommended calorie intake.
Your average soda has over 300 calories in a portion, and a lot of the bottles are packaged to contain 2 serving sizes. Instinct tells you that a bottle is one serving size, but that is not always the case.  Just read the can of ... your average energy drink, for instance.  You’ll see what I’m talking about.

Another
easy way to cut calories is always to add veggies in your recipes. And ... eat them FIRST!  Vegetables are usually low in calories.  Yes, adding more veggies to your recipes adds more nutrition to your meal; but more specifically, it adds more fiber to your meal.  This extra fiber will cause you to feel full sooner which will lower the amount of food that you eat.
Another easy way to cut calories is to serve a slice of pineapple or mango for dessert rather than pie or cake.  I know.  But it is all about making healthy choices.  I’m not saying ‘turn your world upside down’ and revamp your whole fridge.  I’m saying while you know you have to change, change slowly, change methodically, and change progressively.  Always do what comes next!
Also, alcohol is normally full of calories and it has no nutritive value. So you should know the calorie count of your favorite ‘moon-shine’.
For snacks; everyone knows about small cut, raw vegetables for any low-calorie alternative.  If you get tired of them, try to find other foods, like unsalted nuts or a ‘new’ fruit to snack on.
Write everything down inside a food journal to help you keep up with what you eat and the respective calorie count.Find simple actions to minimize calories from your food. When you are ready to lose weight, pick two or three of those steps to begin. Once you have mastered those, commence to practice another step; then another, then another.
Before you know it, you’re drinking healthier drinks, eating healthier foods and consuming a smaller amount of calories.  Shortly thereafter, you’ll notice that you’re not only smaller, but also lighter and feeling better.  Trust the math, if you create a caloric deficit - you will lose weight.  You just have to do it!

Weight Loss Myth #1

WLM #1: "Cardio Burns Fat Better and Faster than Resistance Training"

FALSE.

As a Bootcamp Instructor, one of the most frustrating things I hear (more often than anyone could imagine) is:

"Can we do more Cardio?" "Why don't we do more Cardio?" "I was in another bootcamp and I lost a lot of weight because we did a lot of cardio." "I won't be coming back because I need more cardio." "How can I burn fat really fast; 2 hours of cardio per day?"

I try to explain to them how the body works; how calories are stored and burned, etc., but they are stuck in their false paradigm of cardio-worship and they simply ignore what I tell them.  They won't even research it.

Most women in my class want to lose weight.  For most of them, they live and die for cardio to achieve this goal.  However, they have been trying to do so for years and years ... but they still have not reached their weightloss goals.  They have great lung capacity and strong hearts ... but they have too much body fat.

The fascinating (and frustrating) thing is ... after failure upon failure, they refuse to change their approach.  Instead, they change gyms; trainers; bootcamps. etc.  But they don't change 'themselves' ... because they know more than all of the trainers they've dealt with ;)

I mean; P90X is the most popular at-home fitness program in the world, and only 3 out of 12 discs are cardio based (Plyometrics, Kenpo X, Cardio X). All other 9 discs are resistance.

But what does Tony Horton know?

But I digress:

Sometimes we have to hear things from other people before we accept them.  So, I have created this post (and it is required viewing from now on) of several people, explaining why the Cardio=Fat loss belief is false.
