Bad Traits to Avoid If You Wish to Achieve Your Goals

A lot of people stay unsuccessful or have alternating experiences with success and failure; simply because they do not know that they have many bad traits.

Bad traits pertain to habits and personal characteristics that ultimately lead to failure. Some of the things you've been so used to doing for several years may be the main reason why you struggle much.

1) LAZINESS!

Laziness is one of the negative habits that a loser has. The worse thing is lazy people usually do not want to get rid of the problem. If you want to achieve your goals, you need to understand the value of hard work and perseverance.

Some of the greatest people in the world are known to work way more than those who did not leave a mark. The greats work longer hours, sleep less, eat less, wake up earlier and suffer more than anybody else. It takes sacrifice to reach your goals. The most important thing to know is that everything you have ever wanted is just outside your comfort zone.

2) FEAR!

Another bad habit that people have dealt with for several years is fear. They fear things and events without even trying. Some people are even afraid of success subconsciously in a way that they refute any opportunity that can make them great. Some people do not realize that they just do not or cannot handle the bigger responsibilities that achieved goals come with. You should understand that once you reach a certain goal, it can mean that the bar has just been raised for you to accomplish more.

3) SELFISHNESS!
Selfishness is a bad trait that you need to get rid of to achieve your goals. There are individuals who do not want to get help from others because they do not want to share their expected success.  They don't want to say: "such-n-such" helped me. What's sad is that most of them do not ever reach their goals.

There is so much joy and celebration for every success that can be shared between several individuals. There is even so much money in the world for everyone to stay rich. Even if you may be better off doing some things yourself, still you cannot do everything alone.

4) NEGATIVITY!
Pessimism is a trait of losers. Losers always find a reason to lose, even if the situation or opportunity is already presenting itself. In most cases, pessimism is tied up to fear. Seeing things in a negative light will result to bad results too, most of the time. If you start your day negatively, everything else will already seem bad, so you will focus more on the little things that do not matter and let them bother you, instead of keeping your mind on your goals.

Your Solution
The first step to treating bad habits to achieve your goals is to look at yourself as a confident, capable and strong individual. You are responsible for whatever happens in your life. Although problems are bound to happen, you know that you always have the ability to stay successful in life as you choose. Minor setbacks are supposed to be a means for you to become better and stronger.
Write a list down indicating all your weaknesses and bad traits. Next, put the opposite trait for each. The opposite traits are now your new characteristics to be adopted. Start practicing one good trait per week or month, and then add another one for consistency. Over time, you will realize that success follows you because of your positive aura.

Goal Setting Essentials For Weight Loss Success

Success with any project begins with a finished goal in mind. With weight loss, it's all too common to quickly lose focus without specific goals. Setting goals is one of the best ways to insure success with any weight loss program. These are some tips for creating and sticking to weight-loss goals.

Short-Term Goals
Both short-term and long-term goals are important for weight loss success. Short-term goals are essential for staying motivated long enough to meet long-term goals. Short-term goals should be set daily or weekly.

Many people who want to lose weight focus more on the long-term goals, but if you neglect opportunities for success along the way, it is too easy to get discouraged. Make it easier for yourself by creating daily and weekly milestones. For example, you could set a goal to exercise 2 times a week. Each time you meet your goal, you have another success, which will increase your motivation.

Long-Term Goals
Long-term weight loss does not happen overnight. Setting long-term weight loss goals reinforces the fact that weight loss is a lifestyle choice, not a quick fix. Long-term goals really measure the success of your weight loss program. You can set these up monthly, or every two to three months. This is enough time to really gauge your progress. Long-term goals work best if they are measurable and concrete. You could focus on losing a specific percentage of body fat, or a certain number of pounds.

The best way to meet both short and long-term goals for weight loss is to make sure you have everything in place before you begin. This means setting up and following a healthy eating program, a regular exercise program, and connecting with supportive people. By taking care of these important aspects, you will be more prepared.

Begin by choosing a program that offers a wide variety of healthy foods, and is easy to follow with your current lifestyle. A great way to stick to a program is to plan out your eating schedule for each week, that way you can anticipate any roadblocks that may arise, and also do your grocery shopping ahead of time. It's much easier to stick to your meal plan if you have everything you need.

Regular exercise is also incredibly important.  Not only does exercise burn calories and shed pounds, it simply makes you feel better. You will have more energy and be more enthusiastic about staying focused on your weight loss goals.

One final step is to arrange a support network. Losing weight requires not just physical changes, but also emotional and mental ones. Having a community of people who are dedicated; such as at a boot camp, to your weight loss efforts will help you stay motivated. I provide those in need with a Boot camp Buddy.  If you’d like me to pair you with one, please let me know.

In addition to enlisting your friends and family in supporting your goals, you may also want to try some of the online communities.

Losing weight is much easier when you start out with a goal in mind. By setting short and long-term goals you will be able to achieve daily success, and also work toward the end result. Making sure you have clear strategies for eating, exercise, and emotional support will contribute to your motivation, and ultimately to your weight loss success.

The Power of A Goal

Below is an article recommended by one of our fellow Bootcampers, Chris L.  It's very good reading so I thought I would pass it on to you.  Please take from it, what you think you can use ... and actually apply it to your game plan of reaching your fitness goals.

"Do you have a goal for each workout?

To get the most out of your exercise time, make each session goal-oriented.

Decide how many miles you'll run, how many reps you'll do or how much you'll increase the intensity before your workout begins. Then achieve it.

Set clear goals, write them down, and keep a record of your workouts. There's nothing quite like being able to read exactly where you want to be, where you currently are, and where you've come from.

MOTIVATION

We're at the time of year when our motivation wanes, and many convenient distractions keep us from eating healthy or exercising.

With a little awareness we can ignite our motivation again. This next series of blasts will help us regain our focus.

M - Mindset — Take time to evaluate what's going on in your mind. What triggers your snack attacks? What distracts you from choosing healthy options? Write these things out in our free Online Journal. Learning what's going on inside can help inspire you to make better, healthier decisions.

O - Organize — Before you go to the grocery store organize a meal plan and create a shopping list. Sticking to a plan and list can help you look forward to the next snack or meal and build some excitement in eating.

T - Time — Make time for creative activities. Whether you take up dancing, run around with your kids, or even go out for a daily walk before work or after dinner. Whatever you come up with, try to make time in your busy schedule to do something fun and active.

I - Inform — Experiment with activity and healthy recipes to learn what you like. Information is a powerful source to keep you going. What's more, sharing what you learn with others helps build your confidence and enthusiasm.

V - Variety — Shake things up. Routines are helpful, but your body learns and adapts quickly. Try to keep it guessing with new activities and foods to make your body work for you.

A - Activity — Keep moving, and find fun ways to say active. Grab a friend and join a walk/run club or hit the community courts for a pick-up game of basketball. Find the activities that make you smile, and rotate through them.

T - Trust — No work is in vain when it comes to weight loss. Even when you're not seeing the results you expected, you have to believe your dedication is changing your life and body. Trust what you're doing will produce the results you envision.

I - Imagine — What does success look like for you? What size pants or dress will you fit into when you reach your next goal? Keep a picture of success in front of you, and your work will get you there.

O - Observant — Take notice of the changes going on with you. Are the healthy changes in your diet affecting how you feel about yourself? Are others taking notice? Do you look at food choices a critical eye? Observe the changes going on in you. They are real, and your family and friend will notice.

N - New — We're not in this journey simply to revert to our old ways. The change in our lives is real and lasting. In a sense, we're creating a new life for ourselves. Let the new you influence your decisions and activity as you continue to live smarter and healthier."

Avoiding Weight Loss Mental Mistakes

Mindset is a major factor for successful weight loss. By reprogramming how you think, and what you think about, you can stay motivated and focused on your weight loss goals.  Here are some mental pitfalls that should be addressed when you start your weight loss journey.

Talk to yourself, positively!  Don’t be patronizing, but be positive – coach and motivate yourself, consistently.

Being overweight can often trigger thoughts of self-hatred.  But beating yourself up does not help you lose weight.  Doing so is simply a waste of time – time that you could be using to be positive.  Regardless of whether you’re negative or positive, your words become a self fulfilling prophecy.  It is much easier to stay focused and motivated on your weight loss goals when you appreciate yourself and your efforts. I know it’s hard to be firm with yourself, but quite simply – you have to do it.  If you don’t do it … it doesn’t get done.  It is ups to you.  So get out of your own way!

You can help create a new positive mindset by paying attention to what you say to yourself.  One way to do this is with a journal.  Try to stay focused on your feelings about your body.  By staying focused on what you're saying to yourself.  Once written, you can look back through the pages and start seeing how many negative thoughts v/s positive thoughts you have having.

The point is that you need to see how “you” are influencing yourself.  We all know about those “bad” friends and relatives … the enablers, but what about YOU?  You are either a helper or a hindrance.  Which are you?  Are you helping or hurting your own mission?

By believing you are capable (more importantly; worthy) of having a healthy body, losing weight will be that much easier.

Don’t Neglect Self Rewards:

In addition to negative self talk, one of the other things that many people do that sabotages their weight loss efforts is that they neglect to reward themselves regularly. By receiving feedback and positive reinforcement, you help yourself stay excited and involved in meeting your weight loss goals.  Surely you remember: “If you finish your vegetables first, then I’ll give you dessert.”  Well, even though you’re an adult, this tactic still works.

Start by breaking larger goals into smaller chunks, and reward yourself every time you meet a milestone. Rewards do not need to be expensive, and can include things like time with friends, reading a good book, or spending time on a hobby that you enjoy.

No Emotional Eating:

One of the major hurdles to losing weight is the problem of emotional eating. Many people use food to self-medicate.  By eating, they relieve or soothe their negative thoughts and unpleasant emotions. By uncovering your emotional eating triggers, you can begin to identify what makes you grab food in an emotional tirade.  By being more aware of when and why you eat, you are better equipped to stop yourself from emotional eating.

A great way to do this is to have“go-to” activities lined up whenever you feel tempted to reach for food.  Exercise, for example, is a great way to adjust your mood. If you can distract yourself with exercise, you will feel better and remove much of the need for emotional eating. If exercise isn't an option, another effective technique is to distract yourself for 5 or 10 minutes, and check your mood again. Set a timer if you need to. In many cases, you will have distracted yourself long enough to release the immediate need to eat.

You can increase your chances of success by accepting your weight loss goals are a journey, not a destination.  Moreover, it is a mental journey as well as an emotional one … as much as a physical one. Weightless requires synchronization with the mental, the emotional, and the physical aspects of “you”. When you remove some of those common hurdles and focus on creating a positive mindset; surrounding yourself with motivating images – signs, symbols, inspiring words, etc. the chances of you reaching your weight loss goals will success will increase dramatically.

Easy Ways To Increase Your Weight Loss Motivation

With so much information widely available, most people know that they need to eat healthy and exercise regularly. However, losing weight can be a difficult and daunting task if motivation is lacking. While many people approach weight loss as a short-term solution, people who are successful at losing weight also implement solutions that keep the weight off for the long-term. By committing to a long-term lifestyle change, you will be able to keep the weight off, and implement healthy eating and exercise habits throughout your lifetime. These are some tips to discover and strengthen your weight loss motivation.

1.       Write It Down

Start by discovering your reasons for wanting to lose weight. Those reasons are the engine that drives your motivation. If your reasons are clear and strong, you will have a much better chance of keeping the weight off. Put in writing and review regularly, and they'll provide inspiration when your will power starts to falter. Maybe you can attach this list to the fridge J That way, you will see it every single day.

Also, it's a good idea to break down your weight loss goals into smaller increments.  Don’t overwhelm yourself by thinking you have to turn your whole life upside down.

For instance, you might want to lose 20 to 30 pounds. This should break down to about 8 to 12 pounds a month over a 3 to 4 month period. By setting weekly, Bi-Weekly, or even Monthly goals, you give yourself something to reach for within a comfortable (and realistic) time frame. You can write down your target each month and when you meet success, it will increase your desire to continue.  It’s motivating!

2.       Routine Changes

Next, implement weekly changes to your diet. A good place to begin is by substituting processed foods that are high in sugar and carbohydrates with healthier alternatives. The following week, you can keep this change in place, and also decide to eat five servings each of fruit and vegetables daily. Over time, changes to your routines while add up to healthy eating when applied consistently.

3.       Exercise

You may have signed up for Black Phoenix Bootcamp … but you have to show up!  And once you shoe up … you have to get your game face on and work!  I’m saying you have to kill yourself, but you certainly have to work “right outside of your comfort zone”.  Make yourself a little uncomfortable.  Remember, you have to break the plateau that you’re in … yes, being a couch potato is a certain plateau.

Coming to class and getting to know others with similar goals is what's great about Bootcamp.  It motivates you to stay focused on your weight loss goals.

4.       Rewards

One of the most important ways to stay motivated is by rewarding yourself. Treat yourself to small rewards when you meet your weight loss goals each month. Consider providing yourself with a large reward when you accomplish your weight loss goals. If you're not sure what type of reward you would like, take a look at what motivates you. For example, if one of your desires is to have more energy, a powerful reward might be an outdoor weekend getaway that requires exercise energy and stamina.

If you're on a budget, there are many rewards you can enjoy without spending a lot of money. One is the gift of time. Giving yourself the time to do things you love is a great way to pamper yourself. Many people have success by rewarding themselves daily with something small. Sometimes soaking in a hot bath at the end of the day is reward enough. But by rewarding yourself often, you will keep your motivation strong.

Once you find a way to stay consistently motivated, you will start to see results. Losing weight will help reinforce the positive choices you're making, and it will be even easier to stay motivated. Motivation is one of the best weight loss tools that you can have.
